The category of Town Planning Use to which the current or intended Use of a property is allocated, as defined in the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) Order 1987. This is a Statutory Measure and is subject to periodic variation and updating.
Use Class for a premise can be changed through making a planning application for “change of use”. This is a specialist area of property and can take a few months to prepare, submit and secure. Change of Use cannot be guaranteed and particular note needs to be taken of individual Council policy on various Uses within their boroughs.« Back to Glossary Index
